School vs..

lets be honest. as much as i love learning about sociology (and i really do find it very interesting. no lie!) the fact that i can turn on the tv and learn about cook, engineering and blind faith while watching Heston make the worlds largest ice cream is far more interesting! i could look at it from a sociology point of view- what makes different people like different ice creams? is there a difference over class structure as to what ice cream is preferred. but this is not what my subject is about. it should be though, it would so much more fun if it was (i would also gain about 5kgs, if it were that as well) haha.

A Children's Lullaby

There is a story to be told
 In a children’s lullaby
Sing them softly sound to sleep
Do not wake and do not cry

Never see the world as bad
Only bounds of wonders good
Never lost, lonely or scared
A comfort home among the wood

Time will tell these stories well
But until you question why
You can’t begin to know the truth
Of a children’s lullaby

A girl caught in a charade
Knowing never who sees out
Cross her if you dare play
For there is danger here about

A boy in search of lost
Seeking treasures of the heart
Vain and vile lead the way
Lead only back to the start

 The stories come with words
Cryptic and harsh to passers by
But for those who stop to look
The secrets of a lullaby

For behind the magic and murder
Tells a story of the just
Of one who stand for truth above all
Of love, of wonder; a must

Not age, not standing; not cotton nor silk
Can put us above any
Rather courage and truth and freedom to all
And wealth among the many F

or you see it’s not just a tale
Of a soldier and his gun
The story you thought you knew
About a battle that wasnt won

 I think perhaps you forgot
Like a stone left on the path
A message of hope and love not lost
The homely heart of the hearth

There are stories to be told
 In a children’s lullaby
Lessons to be learned
Uncovered by the curious eye

So the next time you dismiss
The stories of the past
Ask yourself why they’re there
And why on earth did they last

 Pictures fill a thousand nooks
In a little young ones head
But you will find the puzzle completes
When the little one goes to bed

You wonder how you grow up
To live rich and enchanted lives
The stories sung, and kept and told
Open up the skies

And yes there’s something to be said
About a child who’s dreams can fly
But nothing more important
Than lessons of a children’s lullaby.

At its finest

procrastination we have learned is my forte. one of the ways that i do this is watching tv shows. my favourite one the past few weeks has been One Tree Hill. amazing writing, incredible characters and even better memories. there is at least one episode in every season that will have me crying like a baby. i have just finished season 9 and that episode was 'Danny Boy' in which Dan Scott actually manages redemption just before he (spoiler!) dies. it beautiful and made even more sad as Craig Scheffer who playing Uncle Kieth comes back for that episode. 'dont worry, little brother. you're my plus one'- makes me bawl every. single. time! waahh!! however there is an episode in season 6 that will remain my favourite and one the without fail i will cry like a baby. cause of a cape. Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. (yes it is the name of a band too) 'Quentin Fields was a basket ball player. He was also a son. A brother. Somebody’s teammate. Somebody’s friend. I never knew Quentin fields and I guess now I never will. Did you ever wonder what it would be like if you weren’t you anymore? If you were suddenly gone how would your world react? Whatever you imagined is wrong. There’s nothing romantic about death. Grief is like the ocean; its deep and dark and bigger than all of us. And pain is like a thief in the night. Quiet. Persistent. Unfair. Diminished by time and faith and love. I didn’t know Quentin fields but I’m jealous of him because I see how his absence has affected the people that did know him so I know that he did matter to them. And I know he was loved. People say Quentin fields was a great basketball player. Graceful. Fluid. Inspiring. They say on a good night it almost seemed like he could fly. And now he can.' excuse me while i go and sit in a corner and cry. while rocking back and fourth. for the rest of time.

Broke Uni Student

you know what really ticks me off. people who think they're actions dont inflict anyone else. for example. someone tries palming off a work shift to someone but didnt realise they're legally not allowed to do it. so things change and the first person gets put back on the roster. first person keeps trying to palm off this shift (after previously complaining that they dont get enough shifts). its soon figured out that the reason behind the supposed 'not being able to work' is simply cause they want to go out instead of manning up and doing the work. no one else could be found for the shift- first person says, its okay, ill figure it out. then calls in 'sick'. again. oh yes its not the first time its happened my friends. in fact its far from the first time. far far from it. i mean seriously! how could anyone be so stupid! anyhow, now cause i was actually legit sick guess who gets to spend $80 on a doctors cert. to prove it. thank you. not really. i now hate you. regards- broke uni student.

Harvard Style Guide...

I personally think thats a little misleading.. Harvard Style Guide.. I immediately think that it has something to do with whats 'on trend' at Harvard this semester! but alas, it is not that exciting. im staring at that tab, wishing it was anything but exactly what it is (im also wishing i could go to sleep, but alas thats not gonna happen either.) oh the joys of not reading things properly and having to cram. welcome back to studies Katie, welcome back.

Putting the 'pro' in procrastination

oh yes, this actually happened. i now have 3 days to do two assignments that i thought were due in two weeks. oops! oh well, its now down to the late nights (or early mornings for me) and not much sleep again. too bad ive just come off being sick and actually need sleep. heres to being sick for a few more weeks then!! gotta love school! it really never changes...

Harry is that you?

okay, as an avid Harry Potter fan this made me laugh so much!! I love when my professors make me giggle. a new spin on how to avoid Plagerism! http://www.katehart.net/2012/06/citing-sources-quick-and-graphic-guide.html

A Second Hand Emotion

Do you believe in love? That full, ‘you’re all I ever wanted and now I can’t believe that I finally have you, all my dreams are coming true’ kind of love. The kind of love that you see in movies, that no matter what happens everything will be alright. The love that has that one person who will never leave. Ever. Do you believe in it? I want to. But sometimes I can’t. Maybe it’s because I haven’t found the right person yet. Or maybe it’s because all the people who I do love keep leaving me. I find someone, I find that ‘my heart starts racing when I see your name and I have no hope when you’re in front of me’ person. And maybe I love too hard or too soon or too often. Maybe it’s my fault. Maybe it is my fault. I love and they leave. But the point is they leave. And the ones who don’t want to leave, are a million miles away. Literally. The 5am conversation people, the talk about anything people; are across the ocean, a million miles away where I can’t reach them. I heard once that love does not knock often, so when it does you have to let it in. But what do you do when it’s hurt disguised as love and you let it in anyway?

Broken?

4 years ago, I had it all planned. 2 years ago I had it all planned. Today; not so much. I have heard all my life that I can do whatever I wanted. That the world is mine and it’s my oyster, I can create my own pearl. But what if I can’t? Have you ever thought of that? It all seems so easy when you’re there and everyone is telling you that you can do it. But what will you think when no one is there and you’re falling? Or the people who are there only tell you what you can’t do? Do you let it get you down? Or do you rise above it and prove them all wrong? I know which one you’d like to think you’d do. That same one which I thought I would pick when the time came. That would be the best outcome wouldn’t it! The little one who gets picked on, all of a sudden rises above everything and proves to everyone else exactly what she can do! That’s the dream; but it’s not reality. When push came to shove I broke. I broke; lying in the dark, under the covers, crying myself to sleep broke. Am I ashamed? No. Am I proud of it? Not really, but will I let it define me? Never.

Everything Has Changed

Ive been gone. i know. its been terrible for all. including me. i swear! but really, it honestly has. i started up what i thought was going to be a play of my own writing but lets be honest it was a bunch of musing of a now 22 year old, who has an idealised version of herself in her mind that only she sees. *insert big cheesy grin here* maybe ill post some of them on here? who knows, actually that might be a very good idea, seeing as how it will bring most of you up to date on what has been happening. though now looking back at my profile, i do need to update that! 2 years have gone and everything has changed. everything. has. changed.
